KETTLE BELLS
Kettle Bells are a strength and fitness tool that I've long incorporated into my surf training regimen, and offer a practical and traditional style of training. Training with Kettle Bells substantially increase your conditioning, stamina, and endurance enabling you to workout longer, harder and more frequently with less fatigue. The degree of stability used when pushing, pulling, swinging and pressing translate to a super strong core, improved posture, and reduced injuries. The back, glutes, and hamstrings play a key role in many of the lifts, promoting a stronger back that is more flexible. They are very effective in developing muscular strength and power which are particularly useful for competitive sports people looking for that edge.
Made out of cast iron, they're cannonball-shaped weights with a single handle on top; very simple, but yet one of the most efficient fitness tools that you can use. They appeal to people of all fitness levels, ages, and genders. You'll be amazed by the big results you can achieve; all in less time than you would have spent using free weights and machines at your local gym. Not only do you save time,
but you save money on those expensive gym membership fees. They are ideal because they are mobile, as well as and massively versatile, in that literally thousands of exercises can be done with them.
A single exercise consists of multiple joints and muscle groups moving simultaneously, often in ways that are new and unfamiliar to most people. And because the movements are different than traditional strength exercises, they take practice and professional attention to master. When done wrong, there is more risk than just dropping the weight on your toes or bumping yourself. Bad form could seriously injure your joints, neck, back and spine. The bottom line is to be safe—and learn how to use kettle bells from pros, like myself.
YOGA
Surfing and Yoga go hand in hand. Yoga is great for increasing balance, strength and flexibility. You will see improvements in your surfing if you make Yoga a part of your life. I have been practicing Yoga for the past decade and have taken classes around the world. I practice Yoga every day and can guide you to a routine that is designed for you and your ability.
P90X & Insanity
To build muscle strength and complement my kettle bell & yoga training I use the extreme home fitness program-- P90X, and 'Insanity' for max cardio intervals. P90X provides an extensive variety of fat-burning, muscle-perfecting moves that continually challenge the body, confusing the muscles so that they do not become accustomed to the same routine(s).
As a result, there is a 'no plateau effect' and all your hard work pays off-- No diminished results.
